1AM, with curators Manny Rivas and James Brown, are proud to present “Most Wanted: Behind the Hype”,  a toy vinyl show featuring the best customizers in the game.  More than 25 artists were given KidRobot platforms to showcase their creativity and skills.  Without any specific theme to address, everyone is pushing the boundaries of their own unique style.  The opening reception is on Friday, May 11^th, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30pm and will run through June 10^th, 2012.

“The Most Wanted” (MW) is an artist collective that started in 2009 and created by Tim Munz, Igor Ventura, and Manny Rivas.  It is a custom Dunny series that pays homage to Kidrobot and their classic blind box series.  Bringing together a huge collective of talent from across the globe, MW1 and its’ predecessor, MW2, were instant successes with both series selling out in a matter of seconds.  Despite the continuing success of the collection, the founders’ goal remains the same: find and showcase the most competent up-and-comers in the scene and spread their talent across the globe.  One of the best ways to do that is to exhibit the incredible works at art galleries.

The “Most Wanted: Behind The Hype” show has no particular theme to limit the artists’ imagination.  Manny and James wanted everyone to bring their own distinctive styles to the table and present them on the most popular platforms out there, KidRobot’s Munnys and Dunnys. The focus of this exhibit is to display the true talent and passion that lies behind the customized toy hype.  What is the hype? Join us at the opening reception on Friday, May 11^th and find out!

SO SO HAPPY x TOY2R x CHAUSKOSKIS

Toy2R is thrilled to jump into 2012 with a new DIY project, especially when it’s tied to one of the fastest growing brands – So So Happy. In collaboration, between Toy2R and So So Happy, an incredible roster of artists have been invited to customize 8” Qees inspired by the So So Happy characters and brand. Over 30 artists are taking part in this project and the Qees will be displayed at venues and trade shows across the country for 2012. Participating artists include: Albert Art, AW177, Sneaky Raccoon, Chauskoskis, Diego Machado, Frank Mysterio, A Little Stranger, Howie Green, Fuller Designs, JC Rivera, Jon-Paul Kaiser, Julie West, Ardabus Rubber, Kim Mayhew, Leecifer, DGPH, Matt Anderson, MeSmithy, Mikie Graham, Grimsheep, Pocket Wookie, RSIN, Scott Kinnebrew, Scott Tolleson, Shawn Wigs, Steve Lew, Valerie Bermudez and Valerie Gudell. WALT MOUSE x Chauskoskis

Walt Mouse! híbrido de Mickey Mouse y Walt Disney, custom hecho para el  "Play Imaginative X Disney Mickey Mouse Show"

Para este show también existe la posibilidad de que el diseño sea seleccionado para ser parte de la nueva serie vinyl toys de Disney, por eso mi custom lo hice siguiendo mi propuesta  original. el concepto es muy simple y el trabajo también, nada complicado, de hacer, ni de entender, básico simple pero bien diseñado, uno debe saber  cuando usar ciertas ideas, bien pude hacer un custom mucho mas complicado, elaborado, etc. pero es muy importantes saber PARA QUE es cada uno de los proyectos que tomamos. uno debe aprender a moderarse un poco de vez en cuando,  creo que mas de 16 años como diseñador gráfico te enseña eso, y claro un poco de intuición :)

Walt Mouse! Hybrid of Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney, i made this pieces for the upcoming "Play Imaginative x Disney Mickey mouse Show" also i did a template design for it, playimaginative is giving us the opportunity to maybe get our designs selected as a production piece, so that was one of the main reasons why i go this way with my custom and design. sometimes you need to hold yourself a little on going too crazy or just too much above the necessary. i think this figure delivers, and it certainly gives me a good chance to be selected for production. will see. fingers crossed!
