After a long wait, finally i finish a Qee Dog from toy2r!

He is "The Green Spaniel"  he is a face wrestler, dont let yourself be fooled by his angry face!

He is the ultimate rival of the "Monkey Guajardo" a MonQee that i did some months ago.. (you can see him on one of the pics HERE ) 

Por fin! después de mucho tiempo  que tuve esta pieza olvidada, al fin logre terminarla.

El Spaniel Verde (si, es un cocker Spaniel el que se esconde bajo la mascara)  es un luchador técnico, no se dejen engañar por su mirada fiera y el diente dorado, es el archi rival de El Mono Guajardo ambos pronto tendrán un nuevo rival! esten atentos.

Designer toy Awards 2011 : The results!

Regrese de SDCC y apenas intento ponerme al corriente con muchas cosas, una de ellas seguro ya la saben, los resultados de los " Designer Toy Awards" como les había contado estuve nominado en la lista original junto a montones de artistas, y unos días antes de la premiación se dio a conocer la llamada "short list nominees" en la cual la lista de cada categoría se redujo a solo 5 artistas, en ambas categorías en las que estuve nominado pase a las finales o a la "short list"

Como mejor customizador el ganador fue Doktor A y como artista revelación gano Jason Freeny, si bien no gane, el hecho de haber pasado a las nominaciones finales junto a artistas consagrados con mucho mas tiempo que yo en el movimiento del toy, es un gran éxito. Que siendo sincero lo que yo quería mas que ganar era tener el trofeo diseñado por Pete Fowler.

Si bien ha habido ciertas criticas con respecto a los premios, recordemos que es la primer edición y sin duda en las siguientes ediciones esos errores serán corregidos y el evento en general mejorado.

Ya veremos el próximo año si me puedo volver a colar a las finales!

Wooper Looper de Gary Ham (esculpido por su servidor) haciendo su primer aparición pública en SDCC 2011 , si bien solo es el prototipo causo una excelente respuesta tanto de fans como expertos, esten atentos a mas noticias de como evoluciona Wooper Looper!

Parece ser una escultura sencilla, pero resulto mas compleja que el mismisimo Greasebat!

Custom qee for the toy2r world tour in Mexico

I was hearing "yaheard!" show with Ritzy, Kano, Shane Jessup and Sket1, and in some point Shane mention that he likes to do his pieces for custom shows kinda child oriented, because he thinks that in the end we are making toys, and the kids will be the the future artists and fans of the whole movement of the art toy, so for me it make lot of sense that, so that's why i decide to make this custom, not as weird looking or ugly as my characters use tobe, so this guys is more friendly looking, more naive, and yes its more for the kids to like, ireally can imagine a 6 years old kid playing around with this baby lucha bear, so i hope thishelps to bring a new breed of art toy fans... the kids. :)

Para el world tour México de toy2r con la plataforma Mini Qee Bear.

Estuve escuchando una entrevista con Shane Jessup, en ella el decía que el sus customs para shows los hace muy diferentes a su trabajo regular, que el cree que el futuro del art toy esta en los niños y que el hace esas piezas pensando en ellos.A mi la verdad me cayó el veinte de eso, y creo que tiene razón, es por eso que este custom lo hice un poco diferente a lo que suelo hacer, un estilo mas infantil, y mas amigable, ya saben, mis piezas suelen tener cierto humor y estilo un poco oscuro o bizarro... este es un custom que sin duda una mamá le compraría a sus hijos menores de 6 años, ojalá les guste :)

Designer Toy Awards 2011

Con la novedad (no tan nueva) que fui nominad0 en 2 categorías en los Designer Toy Awards organizado por la revista Clutter en el primer evento de premios que reconoce a lo mas destacado del art toy, la primer nominación es como mejor customizador, y la segunda como lo que se traduciría como Artista revelación del año. (aunque ya tengo 3 años en esto)

Si cuento la nominación del Greasebat de Jeff Lamm como mejor toy del año, (que como saben yo me encargue de la escultura) son tres nominaciones! Por supuesto no espero ganar, el hecho de estar en el papel junto a artistas como Doktor A, Angry Woebots, Gary Ham, Jason Freeny, Mc Bess, Scott Tolleson, Jryu, 64 colors, Chris Ryniak, K. Gosselin, Map Map, Leecifer, Rotobox, Scribe, Yoskay Yamamoto y muchos otros ya es un gustazo.

Hay algunas categorías abiertas en las que se puede votar, pero no en ninguna de las que yo estoy nominado. para la mayoría hay un jurado de expertos como el fundador de Kidrobot; Paul Budnitz, el fundador de Toy2R; Raymond Choy, y artistas de la talla de Nathan Jurevicious, Ron English, Madl, Brandt Peters, Huck Gee, SketOne, Jesse Hernandez, Brian Flynn, Tim Tsui , Eric So y muchos mas, como galerias y expertos bloggers.

Lo mas atractivo de la premiación es que el trofeo fue diseñado por el legendario Pete Fowler :D

Im so thrilled that im nominated on two categories of the Designer Toy Awards Best customizer and Break Through Artist of the year (3 nominations if i count my participation on the Jeff Lamm, Greasebat that i sculpt, nominated as Best Toy of the year!)

Will be hard to win and i really I aint expecting to, but its a honor just to be there among such big names and talented friends.

Wont be easy for the board of professional judges! almost 50 names from all of the art toy scene, from Kid Robot founder Paul Budnitz, Toy2R founder Raymond Choy, thru artists like Nathan Jurevicious, Ron English, Madl, Brandt Peters, Huck Gee, SketOne, Jesse Hernandez, Brian Flynn, Tim Tsui , Eric So and many more from galleries, and expert bloggers.

This award ceremony will celebrate the best of the industry’s artists, designers, customizers and manufacturers, as well as honoring those involved in championing Art Toys throughout the world.

The awards will have two components. First, a carefully selected board of professional artists, producers and impresarios will choose a group of nominations from the many designs released over the past year.
